Play Agar.io in Your Browser

Agar.io is the original cell eating game, created by Matheus Valadares in 2015 and still running in a browser tab with no install. You control a blob, absorb smaller cells and avoid the ones that can swallow you, against real players on live servers. Accounts are optional. We link to the official site.

Reality checkAgar.io is the rare browser game that stayed interesting after the novelty faded, and the web version still performs well on modest hardware. Live servers mean real opponents in every match, and guest play costs nothing. Simple, quick and still tense.

What is Agar.io?

The rules take seconds to learn. You start as a small circle, eat pellets and smaller players to grow, and stay away from anything larger than you. Mass is a trade off: a bigger cell moves slower and becomes a target, which is why the leaderboard is never settled for long.

Two keys change everything. Space splits your cell in two for a burst of reach, which is how most kills happen, and W ejects a small blob of mass you can feed to a teammate or use as bait. Viruses, the spiky green shapes, split any large cell that eats them, so they act as both a hazard and a weapon.

Team modes and party links let you play alongside other people rather than hunting alone, and every match is populated by real accounts and guests on the same servers. The browser version is the full game, not a cut down mobile page, though the mobile site is a separate layout with touch controls.

How to play Agar.io in your browser

  1. Start Agar.io in a browser tab and enter a nickname, or leave it blank
  2. Choose a game mode and press play to join a running server
  3. Move the mouse to steer your cell toward pellets and smaller blobs
  4. Press space to split when a smaller cell is within reach
  5. Press W to eject mass and feed a teammate in team modes
  6. Avoid the spiky viruses until you are big enough to use them
Never install anything to play a browser game. Agar.io does not need a launcher, an .exe or your account password. If a page asks for any of those, close the tab and play something else.

Tips for Agar.io

  • Split only when the smaller cell is close enough to catch, a missed split leaves you exposed.
  • Feed a teammate mass with W in team modes, a large ally protects more ground than two small ones.
  • Stay near viruses when a big player chases you, they cannot safely follow you into the spikes.
  • Keep to the edges of a busy area and pick off stragglers instead of charging the middle.
  • Watch for the small cells that split toward you, that is the most common way to lose a big run.
  • Play on a full size window so you can see threats before they are on top of you.

Agar.io FAQ

Is Agar.io free to play in a browser?

Yes, the game is free and you can start as a guest within seconds. Optional cosmetic skins are the main purchase, and they do not change your starting mass, speed or split range in a match.

Do I need an account for Agar.io?

No account is required to play. Guest sessions are normal and the game treats them like any other player on the server. An account is worth having only if you want to keep cosmetics and a consistent nickname.

Does Agar.io work on a phone?

It runs in mobile browsers with touch controls and a simpler layout, and the core game is intact. Steering with a finger is less precise than a mouse, which matters when you are trying to line up a split.

Can I play Agar.io with friends?

Team modes are designed for it, and party features let groups join the same server. There is no private match for two people, so you will share the map with strangers even when you are working together.

Why is Agar.io laggy or stuck loading?

Matches are hosted on live servers, so a poor connection shows up as a cell that reacts late or jumps. If the page never loads, check that scripts are allowed for the site and try again in a fresh tab.

Is this the official Agar.io?

The link on this page goes to agar.io, the official game, and we do not host or modify it. Clones with similar names exist, so confirm the domain before signing in anywhere, especially if a page asks for a password.
