Play Moon Zombies in Your Browser

Moon Zombies takes the round-based mode off Earth and drops it on a lunar base where the gravity is low and the air is not yours. This browser build recreates that map in WebGL, so you can run the domes and the labs with no install and no game disc.

Reality checkIt plays, and the low-gravity movement gives this version its own feel in a good way. The recreation is lighter on atmosphere than the original and the first load can be slow, but rounds, purchases and the map's gimmicks land well enough to make a browser session worthwhile.

What is Moon (Zombies)?

The setting is the draw. A space suit, sealed domes, a laboratory, and a set of excavators that will happily open a hole in your route. The browser version keeps that layout and the round-based rules: earn points, buy doors and weapons, and survive waves that grow denser as the counter climbs.

It is a fan-made WebGL recreation, so the fidelity sits well below the original release. Expect flatter lighting, simpler effects and different enemy behavior in places. The low-gravity jumps, the tunneling machines and the Wonder Weapon style tools are all present in some form, which is what most people are looking for.

First load is the slowest part. The engine fetches its assets, then drops you into the map, so give it time before you assume it has failed. Adjust sensitivity once the pointer locks, because the floaty low-gravity movement feels wrong at high values, and only then start the first round.

We do not host this build. The link goes to the project page, which belongs to the people who made the recreation, and we have no connection to Activision or Treyarch. It is an unofficial tribute that could stop working if the people behind it move on, so enjoy it while it lasts.

  2. Click the canvas to lock the mouse, then lower sensitivity for low gravity
  3. Clear early rounds to earn points for doors and weapons

  5. Use the excavators and the hacker tool to open new routes

Tips for Moon (Zombies)

  • Use low gravity instead of fighting it, since long hops across open ground break up a chasing crowd
  • Listen for the excavator warning, because a breach can cut off the route you were relying on
  • Keep your suit intact in the vacuum areas, since the outside sections punish slow reactions
  • Bank points in the early rounds so you can afford the lab doors in one run
  • Train zombies through the dome interiors rather than the narrow corridors, which is where runs end

Moon (Zombies) FAQ

Is Moon Zombies in the browser free?

Yes, the fan project does not charge and this site does not sell access either. We only link out to it. Owning the original Black Ops release is not required to open this recreation, and no purchase step sits in the way.

Can I play Moon Zombies solo, or does it need a full squad?

Round-based zombies has always been playable alone, and a browser recreation like this normally supports it. Playing solo changes the pacing, since you handle every window and every revive yourself, but nothing blocks a one-player run.

Why is Moon Zombies not loading in my browser?

The engine files are the usual suspect, and a slow connection can make the first load take a while. Refresh once, close anything else heavy, confirm hardware acceleration is on, and try a different browser if the canvas stays black.

How do I move around in the low gravity of Moon Zombies?

Aim your jumps instead of tapping them. Longer hang time means you can cross open ground faster than walking, but it also leaves you in the air when zombies reach you, so plan the landing before you leave the floor.

Is this the official Moon map from Treyarch?

No. It is an unofficial fan recreation, and we are not affiliated with Activision or Treyarch. If you want the map exactly as it shipped in 2011, you need the original release on Steam or a console.

Does Moon Zombies need a controller?

No controller is required. The build expects a keyboard and mouse, and that pairing suits the aiming better than a gamepad. If you do have a pad, check the project page for whether it is supported before you plug it in.
